Location

  • Kearney, Nebraska

Schedule

  • Night shift
  • 12-hour shifts
  • 36 hours guaranteed
  • Every other weekend
  • Minimum of 2 holidays during the contract
  • Floating required to MedSurg or ICU to take PCU-acuity patients

Contract Length

  • 20 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license
  • 2 years of unit experience
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS
  • Competency in arterial lines
  • Driver’s license required at submittal

Unit Details

  • PCU
  • Adult patient population
  • Common patient types include cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, adult respiratory, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failure
  • RN must titrate drips
  • Common drips include heparin, nitro, dopamine, Cardizem, amiodarone, and insulin
  • RN must read and interpret telemetry strips
  • High-flow respiratory support is used on the unit
  • Charge nurse is present on each shift
  • Patient care techs are available
  • Unit orientation is 1 day

Additional Notes

  • Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
  • Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
  • RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
  • The unit serves primarily Hispanic and Somalian populations
  • Navy blue scrubs are required
