Schedule

Day shift
12-hour shifts
36 hours per week
Weekend position
Expect to work about half of the recognized holidays
No call or standby requirement

Unit Overview

Stepdown/MedSurg flex unit
29 beds
Serves both floor and step-down patients based on unit needs
Primarily medical patients
Ratios: 3:1 for stepdown, 6:1 for floor

Required Qualifications

RN license
BLS (AHA)
Epic experience
Ability to manage either 6 med-surg patients or 3 stepdown patients
Ability to titrate drips

Clinical Details

Common drips include heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, morphine/dilaudid/fentanyl PCAs, and TPN
May care for patients on CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and vents in stepdown
RNs are not expected to read their own telemetry strips

Support Staff

Charge RNs and house supervisors are available 24/7
Nurse aides are available

Floating

First to float or be pulled to other floor/stepdown units

Dress Code

Royal blue and white scrubs

Orientation

Day shift orientation: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
