ICU Registered Nurse

Location

Contract Length

• 18 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts
• Every other weekend
• Self-scheduling is available for core staff; travelers are added in
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed
• If placed on call and called back in, arrival is required within 30 minutes

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• Driver’s license required at submittal
• Must be able to pass a pass/fail open-book exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%

Experience / Clinical Expectations

• ICU nursing experience
• Ability to titrate drips
• Ability to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips
• Ability to float to PCU and occasionally MedSurg
• Ability to care for adult patients with ratios of 1:2–3 in ICU and typically 1:4–5 when floated

Unit Details

• 33-bed ICU
• Average daily census: 16
• Common patient types include trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance use, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress

Additional Requirements / Restrictions

• Radius rule: candidates must live more than 50 miles away
• Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit
• Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Minimum of 2 holidays during the contract
• Additional requested time off must be submitted upfront; further time off will not be approved
• If called back in after being on call, arrival is required within 30 minutes
