Cardiac Invasive Tech (Cath Lab Tech) - Monterey, California
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Specialty & Experience
- Specialty: Cardiac Invasive Tech (Cath Lab Tech)
- Required years of experience: 2 years or more in specialty (must have at least 1-2 years recent cath lab experience; default to higher value)
- Structural experience preferred but not required
- Experience in Coronary, Vascular, EP, and Neuro preferred
Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (American Heart Association Healthcare Provider)
- ACLS (American Heart Association Provider) - must be obtained prior to completion of orientation
- California Fluoroscopy license
- Certified Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
- Fluoroscopy certification
Education & Testing
- Must pass Arrhythmia Interpretation/Telemetry test at 85% prior to completion of orientation and independent assignment of telemetry/monitored patients (tested annually thereafter)
Work Schedule & Call Requirements
- Typical shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (may vary based on patient census and procedures)
- On-call required on a rotating basis
- Call shifts approximately 10-12 days per month
- Weeknight call: 3:30 PM - 7:00 AM next day
- Weekend call: 24/7 rotating every 3rd weekend, starting Friday 3:30 PM to Saturday 7:00 AM, then a 7:00 AM - 7:00 AM shift
- Must be willing to work holidays on call
- Call response time: expected to respond promptly
- Floating requirement: 30 minutes
Job Duties & Skills
- Critical thinking, sharp assessment skills, quick decision-making ability
- Effective communication and ability to work under pressure
- Experience with PCI, pacemaker, STEMI, diagnostic, TAVR/Watchman procedures preferred
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred (techs use Epic), also McKesson, Philips, Siemens equipment
Facility & Environment
- 2 cath lab suites, 1 EP lab (under construction)
- Average cases per day: 4-5 EP and 6-7 cath cases
- New vascular surgeon and interventional cardiologist joining soon, volume expected to increase
- NICOTINE-FREE facility; negative nicotine/cotinine drug test required unless prescribed nicotine patch
Orientation & Additional Notes
- Unit/department-specific orientation provided
- 2-3 shifts depending on experience
- No scrub color/dress code required
