Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Infection Prevention

Location: Monterey, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM
On Call: Weekend on-call support via phone or remote computer


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse specializing in Infection Prevention to support infection prevention functions primarily at a post-acute care facility with some involvement in hospital infection prevention workflows. The role includes participation in organizational infection prevention meetings and collaboration with leadership teams across departments.


Required Qualifications

  • License: Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
    • Certified in Infection Control (CIC)
  • Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree required
  • Experience:
    • Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) experience required; California SNF experience preferred
    • Familiarity with hospital infection prevention functions is important due to cross-departmental responsibilities
  • Other Requirements:
    • Must pass drug screening with negative nicotine/cotinine results unless medically prescribed nicotine replacement is documented
    • Experience with Epic electronic medical records system preferred

Job Details

  • Work primarily at the post-acute care facility with occasional travel (~2.5 miles) to a nearby hospital for infection prevention meetings
  • Support infection prevention program improvements and assist with onboarding new hires
  • Business casual dress code
  • No floating required

  • This is an interim assignment expected to last between 3 to 6 months
  • The role reports to leadership overseeing post-acute services and infection prevention operations
