Registered Nurse (CVOR)

Location: Prescott, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: Surgery (Main/West Campus)
  • Operating Rooms: 6 suites plus hybrid room
  • Cases per Day: 20-30
  • Common Cases: Total joints, general surgery, spine, urology, cardiovascular for Open Heart team
  • Skillset Required: Ability to work in both OR and CVOR settings
  • Scrubbing Required: No for RNs
  • EMR System: Cerner
  • Shifts:
    • 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM or 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday with call
  • Call Requirements:
    • General OR: 4-5 weeknights per 6 weeks
    • CVOR: 5-10 weeknights per 6 weeks, up to 50% call time
    • Weekends: General OR 5 twelve-hour shifts, CVOR 2 weekends per 6 weeks, up to 50% call time
    • Holidays: 2-3 twelve-hour shifts per year
    • Call response time: 30 minutes
    • Call is shared equally among staff; travelers take call after 1-2 weeks onsite
  • Floating: May occasionally float to non-procedural areas (e.g., delivering food trays, sitting with patients); very rare for travelers; no floating to Pre-op or PACU
  • Orientation: 3-5 shifts depending on caseload and exposure
  • Dress Code: Hospital-provided scrubs

Required Certifications

  • ACLS
  • BLS

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of full-time experience in CVOR or related OR setting

Additional Information

  • Charge nurse and specialty leads available as resources
  • House supervisor onsite 24/7
  • Scrub techs available to assist

Traveler friendly, good ratios, great scheduling, decent providers, Uses tiger text to communicate with most doctors. Plenty of hiking activities. Close to Sedona, Flagstaff and Phoenix. 5:1 Med/tele and 3:1 PCU.

Cons

Cost of living is High, roughly $2000-2500 for your own private space. Float between East and West Campus, 25 minutes apart, west will likely be where you spend 75% of your shifts so pick your housing accordingly.
