Travel RN Opportunity - MedSurg/Oncology

Job Description

Seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a travel assignment in a hospital setting. The nurse will primarily care for oncology patients but will not be required to administer chemotherapy. The unit has 17 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:5, possibly 1:4 if a patient is receiving chemo.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in MedSurg/Oncology specialty (higher value between 2-3 years)
• Active California RN license
• BLS Certification
• COVID-19 vaccination required
• Prior travel experience required (must be a team player and have travel experience)
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac monitors and pass a dysrhythmia exam

Work Details

• 12-hour shifts (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
• Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Holiday work integrated into permanent staff rotation (holiday requests considered but not guaranteed)
• Floating between telemetry and MedSurg floors with ratios up to 1:4 on telemetry
• Orientation: 1 shift on unit
• No ventilator patients
• Telemetry available with monitor tech support
• Hospitalist and intensivist coverage 24/7
• Pharmacy and respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Nurse aides available during day shifts
• Scrub color: navy

Patient Population

• Mostly oncology patients (no chemo administration required)
• Some MedSurg overflow patients

Additional Notes

• Must be comfortable caring for oncology patients
• Must be a team player with prior travel experience
• Even-odd week night shifts (12 hr nights, every other week)
• First to float on the unit
