Required Qualifications

• Certified Histotechnician (HT) via ASCP Verification OR Certified Histotechnologist (HTL) via ASCP Verification
• Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with corresponding certification
• Previous histotechnician or histotechnologist experience preferred (higher years of experience not explicitly stated, so assume at least some prior experience required)
• BLS certification not required (no patient contact)

Experience & Skills

• Microtomy, Embedding, Staining, Routine Maintenance of instruments
• Special stains, H&E staining, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and Immunofluorescence (IF) staining
• Technical procedures related to histology
• Good communication skills, well organized, able to work independently and as part of a team
• Fast learner
• Experience with Epic Beaker (LIS Tracking System) and Epic (EMR) preferred
• Familiarity with Ventana IHC instruments, H&E stainer, cryostat is a plus

Work Environment & Schedule

• Work Monday through Friday
• Shift start times: 5:00 AM or 7:30 AM
• 8-hour shifts
• Limited call on Saturdays (may take call for breast cases)
• No holiday work required
• No self-scheduling or block scheduling
• Lab appropriate attire required; scrubs allowed; no open-toed shoes

Additional Information

• No requirement to cover other lab areas or perform phlebotomy; work is specific to the Histology lab
• Department provides orientation and training before independent work
• Prior travel experience not required
