Job Opportunity: MedSurg/Telemetry Nurse (4th Floor)

Location: Prescott, Arizona
Unit: Telemetry - Surgical/Neuro (4A and 4B)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Details

• Beds: 48 (two units: 4A and 4B)
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
• Nurse Aide Ratio: 1:10-15
• Charge Nurse: Does not take patient assignments
• Telemetry Monitoring:

  • Telemetry monitored remotely
  • Tele techs located on 3rd floor read and post strips
  • RNs interpret strips and sign at least once per shift
• Drip Management:

  • RNs are not required to titrate drips
  • Common drip: Diltiazem at a set rate

Patient Population & Diagnoses

• COVID-19
• Respiratory conditions
• Gastrointestinal issues
• Diabetes
• Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)
• Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA)
• General, orthopedic, and spinal surgical patients

Required Skills & Experience

• Ability to read basic telemetry strips
• Experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, CVA, and TIA
• Cerner experience recommended (only one day of orientation provided)
• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS

Equipment & Treatments

• Bipap, Cpap, high flow oxygen
• Some breathing treatments

Scheduling & Shifts

• 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
• Schedules created for 4 weeks at a time
• Self-scheduling used but finalized by manager
• Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
• Holiday Requirement: Work 2 days and 1 evening or 2 evenings and 1 day during Christmas, New Year’s, and Thanksgiving holidays
• Call/Standby: None required
• Floating: May float to East Campus and possibly PCU if qualified

Orientation & Dress Code

• Unit-specific orientation: 1 shift on the unit
• Scrub color: Navy blue

• Even/Odd weeks, nights, and first to float schedules may apply
