Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Role

• RN in the Adult Medical Speciality Unit
• 56-bed unit with private and semi-private rooms

Required Qualifications

• Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• Last four digits of SSN for submission
• Clinician’s middle initial for submission
• Requested time off for submission
• Must be able to produce a negative drug screen for all panels

Experience / Skills

• Central Lines
• tracheostomies
• chest tubes

Preferred

• EPIC experience
• Travel experience on a MedSurg floor
• Level I trauma center experience

Unit Details

• Common patient types include acute care general medicine cases such as cellulitis, sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, syncope, anemia, uncontrolled diabetes, acute respiratory failure, liver failure, kidney failure, behavioral health, and addictions
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
• PCT support is available for vital signs, accucheks, bladder scans, and ADLs
• RT support includes BiPAP/CPAP for sleep apnea, inhalers, and suctioning
• Telemetry is monitored remotely; RNs can view strips on pack or computer
• Charge RN is free on each floor
• Floating may include other acute care general med areas: nephrology, neuro, ortho, and oncology

Schedule

• 3x12 shifts, 7:00-7:30
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday requirement varies
• No call or standby requirement

Orientation

• 2-3 shifts
• 12 non-billable orientation hours; guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation
