Nursing Opportunity - Progressive Care Unit

Location: Great Falls, Montana
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients on a medical/surgical unit.
  • Patient populations may include pediatrics, pre/post PCI care, pacemaker patients, revascularization, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy, CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, sepsis, and various surgical cases.
  • Care for patients with central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, arterial lines, multiple IVs, and those requiring short-term ventilation support.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care and desired outcomes.
  • Act as a clinical leader and assist with precepting staff.
  • Provide direct care from admission to discharge, including discharge planning.
  • Supervise and give directions to RN, LPN, CNA, housekeeping, and dietary staff.

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Current Montana RN Licensure
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred

Skills & Experience

  • Ability to operate advanced medical equipment including arterial lines, invasive lines, chest tubes, and ventilatory support devices.
  • Experience with basic cardiac telemetry and EKG interpretation.
  • Advanced nursing principles and procedures.
  • Pediatric experience preferred.
  • Experience in post-heart catheterization preferred.
  • Medication management skills including IV medications such as Heparin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, and Dopamine.
