Job Opportunity: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - Nursing

Location: Alturas, California
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

The LVN works under the direction of the Director of Nursing (DON) and collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, residents, families, and other departments to provide individualized nursing care in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) setting.


Qualifications

  • California LVN license required
  • Current BLS CPR certification
  • Good physical health and stamina; able to walk, bend, lift, and perform manual patient care skills
  • Good mental health; able to tolerate and manage challenging patient behaviors
  • Adaptable, able to follow directions, learn new skills, and accept change
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Dependable with a history of good attendance
  • Strong assessment skills and resourcefulness in emergencies
  • Interest in continuing education and self-development
  • Above-average interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Team player, respectful, confidential, and accountable

Responsibilities

Specific Competencies

  • Conduct individualized patient assessments and notify Charge Nurse/MD of abnormalities
  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in collaboration with healthcare team
  • Perform treatments as ordered by physicians (e.g., EKGs, blood draws, IV starts)
  • Maintain cleanliness and restock supplies in patient care areas
  • Provide patient and family education
  • Administer medications according to policy and document accurately
  • Document patient assessments, responses, and progress
  • Initiate emergency resuscitation measures and respond appropriately to emergencies
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and staff information
  • Provide non-judgmental, culturally sensitive care respecting patient autonomy and dignity
  • Report patient conditions during each shift
  • Adhere to safety and infection control standards
  • Assist other nursing departments as needed
  • Perform nursing procedures safely and effectively
  • Maintain current CPR certification
  • Coordinate patient transfers and specimen collections as ordered
  • Assist in orientation and education of new staff
  • Uphold high standards of patient care and communicate concerns through proper channels
  • Participate in ongoing education and staff meetings
  • Conduct end-of-shift rounds to ensure continuity of care
  • Promote safety and report hazards
  • Assist with direct patient care and ensure timely response to call lights
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by nursing management
