Job Summary
- Function as a surgical team member in the operating room under RN supervision.
- Primary focus on cardiac open heart surgery with flexibility to assist in all OR areas as needed.
- Provide care to patients of all ages, including pediatrics and geriatrics, ensuring quality nursing care.
Department Description
- Operating Room specializing in cardiac care for surgical and procedural sedation patients.
- Patient population includes pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and elderly.
- Collaborate with various provider specialties for patients discharged same day or admitted.
Qualifications & Experience
- Current certification to practice surgical technology in Oregon is required.
Education/Experience Options:
Option 1:
- Completion of surgical technologist training in U.S. Armed Forces or U.S. Public Health Service.
- 16 hours of relevant continuing education every 2 years.
Option 2:
- Completion of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited surgical technology education program.
- Certification by NBSTSA or completion of accredited program within past 12 months.
Option 3:
- At least 2 years surgical technology practice between 2014-2017 in hospital, ambulatory surgical center, or federal agency.
- 16 hours of relevant continuing education every 2 years.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year scrubbing experience in CVOR/Open Heart procedures OR
- 2 years acute care scrubbing experience.
Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.
Experience or training in computer applications preferred.
