Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Position

Location: Cortez, Colorado
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night Shift 6 PM – 6 AM (3 night shifts + 1 day shift per week)
Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week


Job Summary

Provide nursing care to patients in Labor and Delivery with willingness to train in Nursery and Recovery. Administer safe, efficient, and courteous care using appropriate nursing procedures. Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development, disease processes, and clinical assessment to meet patient needs. Utilize information technology for documentation and evidence-based care.


Unit/Clinical Focus Areas

  • Labor and Delivery
  • Nursery and Recovery (training provided)
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU) preferred experience
  • Family Birthing Care
  • Procedural Sedation
  • Antepartum, Intrapartum, and Postpartum Care (including complications)
  • Fetal and Advanced Cardiac Monitoring
  • Newborn Care (Delivery to Discharge)
  • Ventilator/BiPAP management
  • Trauma Alert and Rapid Sequence Intubation

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year of Postpartum nursing experience within the last year
  • Experience in Labor and Delivery nursing
  • Clinic nursing experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

Responsibilities

  • Practice within nursing standards, policies, and accreditation requirements
  • Provide patient-centered care and collaborate with healthcare team
  • Supervise non-professional staff and assist physicians with patient care and procedures
  • Administer medications following protocols, including controlled substances and EMAR scanning
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with ethical and regulatory standards
  • Participate in ongoing education, departmental meetings, and quality improvement activities
  • Document nursing care accurately and timely using technology
  • Respond flexibly to workload changes and assist other departments as needed
  • Adhere to dress code and maintain professional appearance

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Exposure to infectious waste, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and occasional aggressive patients
  • Moderate to loud noise levels; environmental exposure to weather conditions possible
  • Physical requirements include lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally, frequent kneeling, crouching, reaching, and fine auditory and visual skills
  • Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities without compromising patient care

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and shifts to meet staffing needs
  • Care for patients from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds
  • Participate actively as a team member and resource for others

This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic labor and delivery environment with additional training in nursery and recovery care. Prior ICU experience is preferred but not mandatory if willing to train in related areas.
