Registered Nurse - Outpatient Surgery
Location: Reno, Nevada
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a same-day surgery setting. Responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care throughout the episode of care. Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals and involve families/caregivers as appropriate.
Work Schedule
- 3 x 12-hour variable shifts (7:00-19:30, 8:00-20:30, or 9:00-21:30), Monday through Friday
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
- Schedule may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
- No regular call requirements, but may be required to pick up one additional shift during the schedule period
- Float to other areas as needed within competency level
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Nevada
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of outpatient surgery nursing experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
- BLS certification
Job Requirements & Expectations
- Provide optimal patient care using nursing knowledge and skills
- Manage cognitive and psychosocial needs specific to the patient population served
- Exercise clinical judgment and decision-making under continuous mental effort
- Adhere to unit/department age-specific competency standards
- May be subject to schedule changes or shift cancellations with 48 hours’ notice due to census fluctuations
