Registered Nurse – Emergency Room

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• On Call/Call Back: 12 hours in a 6-week period; 30-minute response time; minimum 2-hour call back pay
• Float Requirements: May be required to float to nearby locations within a 50-mile radius
• Unit: Trauma Level II, 18-bed Emergency Department
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 3-4 patients per nurse
• Environment: Fast-paced with diverse patient population including stroke, cardiac, neuro, pediatrics, geriatrics, respiratory cases
• Charting System: EPIC required
• Medication Dispensing: Pyxis system
• Additional Duties: RNs draw labs, perform nebulizer treatments; respiratory therapists and X-ray staff available on site

Required Qualifications

• License: Wisconsin RN License
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS (ARC or AHA)
• Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years as an Emergency Room RN
  • At least 1 year of prior travel nursing experience (firm requirement)
  • Trauma Level II experience required
• Skills: Ability to manage independently, work resiliently in a fast-paced environment, and adapt to change

Additional Information

• Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed)
• Low census policy: Eligible for 36 hours of unbillable low census hours; may be placed on call during these hours with call back pay if called in
• Orientation week hours may vary; guaranteed hours apply except when unit is closed for holidays
• Flu season policy: Mandatory flu and COVID vaccination or mask-wearing at all times per facility policy; non-compliance may result in corrective action
