Registered Nurse – Operating Room

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Job Description

• Work on the General Operating Room team with 21 ORs covering multiple specialties.
• Average caseload of 40-60 cases per day (approx. 45 cases).
• Shift schedule includes 8-hour variable shifts with start times at 7:00 AM, 9:00 AM, or 11:00 AM.
• Float assignments may be required to nearby facilities within the region.
• On-call responsibilities include 6-8 weeknight calls and 1-2 weekend calls during the contract, with a 30-minute response time to be ready in the OR. Minimum 2-hour call-back pay applies.
• Weekend and holiday call rotation required (weekends for call only).
• Must have own vehicle due to on-call requirements; rideshare services are not acceptable.
• Charting system: Epic preferred.

Required Qualifications

• Wisconsin RN License.
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Minimum 5 years of Operating Room experience or at least 1 prior travel assignment in a comparable large facility with 20+ ORs.
• Circulating nurse experience required; scrub nurse experience preferred.
• DaVinci robotic surgery experience required.
• Trauma Level II experience required.

Desired Skills & Attributes

• Experience with General Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, Plastics, ENT, and GI cases is a plus (not all required).
• Flexibility and willingness to assist with downtime tasks.
• Strong work ethic, resilience, adaptability to change, and good social skills.
• Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed).

Additional Information

• Radius rule: Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility.
• Low census policy: Up to 36 hours of unbillable low census hours allowed; travelers may be placed on call during this time with call-back pay if called in.
• Orientation week hours are not guaranteed.
• Flu season policy: Travelers declining flu and COVID vaccinations must wear a mask at all times per facility policy; non-compliance may result in corrective action.
