Job Opportunity: Cardiovascular Surgical Tech

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work 40 hours per week on 8-hour variable shifts
• May be required to float to all Central Aspirus locations as needed
• On-call requirements:

  • 1 night of call per week
  • 1 weekend per month
  • 1 backup call per week
  • Occasional additional call may be required
  • 30-minute response time to be ready and in the OR
• Weekend and holiday rotation: every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation
• Approximately 50–60 cardiothoracic surgical cases per month with 3 surgeons
• Use Epic for charting
• Scrub colors: any color

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience (highest required years of experience)
• Prior travel experience required
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Required certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) license preferred
  • AHA or ARC certifications required by facility
• Skills:

  • Efficient in setting up operative suites and case carts
  • Experienced in scrubbing surgical cases across multiple specialties, including cardiac/thoracic and thoracic robot-assisted procedures
  • Ability to turn over rooms for multiple procedures throughout the day
  • Flexible, motivated, resilient, and able to manage change well
  • Willing to perform downtime tasks such as pulling case carts and cleaning
  • Strong work ethic and social skills

Additional Information

• Contractors must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Orientation week hours are not guaranteed; guaranteed hours apply otherwise except during holidays when the unit is closed
• Eligible for 36 hours of unbillable low census hours per contract
• Travelers may be placed on call for low census hours, which count toward the 36 unbillable hours
• Call-back pay applies with a minimum of 2 hours if called back to the facility
• Flu and COVID vaccination required; unvaccinated travelers must wear masks at all times per facility policy, with no exceptions
