Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor & Delivery, you will be responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. You will supervise licensed and non-licensed staff, apply evidence-based practice, and participate in quality improvement efforts. The role emphasizes assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans, with a focus on patient comfort, education, and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent decisions.
Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during stay and at discharge.
Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; mentor and precept staff.
Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement initiatives.
Promote teamwork and effective communication.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies.
Recognize complex patient data to prioritize care and anticipate discharge needs.
Address cultural and ethnic considerations in patient care planning.
Engage in ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Kentucky
Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Experience with Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Acute care nursing experience
Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Information

Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
Focus on patient- and family-centered care using the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care.
Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
