Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor & Delivery, you will be responsible for providing safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care. You will supervise licensed and non-licensed staff, apply evidence-based practice, and participate in quality improvement efforts. The role emphasizes assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans, with a focus on patient comfort, education, and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent decisions.
- Develop, prioritize, implement, and revise plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
- Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during stay and at discharge.
- Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; mentor and precept staff.
- Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement initiatives.
- Promote teamwork and effective communication.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies.
- Recognize complex patient data to prioritize care and anticipate discharge needs.
- Address cultural and ethnic considerations in patient care planning.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kentucky
- Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Experience with Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Acute care nursing experience
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
