Job Description

The Nuclear Med Technologist utilizes imaging, computer, and other equipment to produce and retain high-quality diagnostic images that meet or exceed department, organizational, and industry standards. This role requires thorough knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and image quality. Responsibilities include preparing patients for procedures, educating and responding to patient questions or concerns, and ensuring age-appropriate communication and safety. The technologist applies radiation safety techniques, oversees and trains students, and collaborates with physicians to evaluate images.


Key Responsibilities

  • Verify ordered exams and appropriateness using assessment data and growth/development principles
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients
  • Position patients and equipment to achieve optimal images
  • Produce and retain high-quality diagnostic images
  • Apply radiation safety techniques to minimize exposure
  • Educate patients and address questions or concerns
  • Ensure age-appropriate communication and safety measures
  • Oversee and train students providing patient care

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in Kentucky
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • State Radiology Technologist License (RAD)
  • CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist) or ARRT(N) (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Nuclear Medicine) certification
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology
