Ultrasound Specialist RVT
Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Clinical Allied Health
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Hours: 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Shift: Night Shift, Monday to Thursday, 9:00 pm – 7:30 am
Job Description
- Perform routine and specialized ultrasound procedures as requested by licensed independent practitioners for radiologist interpretation.
- Integrate scientific knowledge, technical skills, patient interaction, and compassionate care to produce diagnostic information.
- Demonstrate detailed understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- Prepare patients appropriately for procedures, including verifying pregnancy and informed consent status.
- Assess contraindications such as medication risks, patient history, lab results, and preparation adequacy.
- Determine type and dose of contrast agent based on patient age, weight, and medical status when applicable.
- Maintain exam room stock and update supply lists to ensure continuous exam flow.
- Confirm patient identity using approved identifiers.
- Provide age-appropriate care for patients ranging from pediatrics to adults.
- Anticipate and respond to patient needs throughout the encounter.
- This role primarily covers pediatric patients with a small number of basic pregnancy scans.
- Must have pediatric ultrasound experience.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a formal diagnostic Radiology program.
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Certification from one or more of the following: ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) or ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
- Minimum of 1 year of ultrasound technologist experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience working with pediatric patients.
Additional Information
- Must demonstrate excellent customer service and positive guest relations.
- Basic life support knowledge is required.
- Prior pediatric ultrasound experience is mandatory.
