Job Opportunity: Medical Director (Physician)

Location: West Springfield, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Locum, Full-time (Monday to Friday)

Position Overview

Seeking a Medical Director to provide general medical direction and supervision of participant care within a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). The role focuses on serving seniors aged 55 and older with chronic care needs, enabling them to live safely and independently in the community.

The Medical Director will:

  • Oversee medical aspects of participant care and clinical outcomes.
  • Supervise Primary Care Providers (PCPs) and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).
  • Lead the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
  • Develop and maintain medical policies, procedures, standards, and protocols.
  • Participate actively in the interdisciplinary team and family conferences.
  • Conduct physical exams, order and interpret lab and diagnostic tests.
  • Collaborate on nursing treatment programs and educate participants and families on health maintenance and chronic conditions.
  • Participate in provider on-call rotation as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct history and physical exams on new participants and reassessments.
  • Develop medical treatment plans and provide medically necessary services in various participant locations.
  • Interview and evaluate applicants and caregivers for program enrollment.
  • Discuss medical conditions and prognosis with participants and caregivers to assist in care planning.
  • Work collaboratively across divisions in a shared culture.
  • Manage changing priorities based on participant needs.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Current and active plenary physician license to practice in Massachusetts (Required).
  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Practice (Required).
  • Board Certification in Geriatrics (Preferred).
  • DEA Registration (Required).
  • Previous supervisory experience (Required).
  • Minimum of 1 year documented experience working with frail or elderly populations (Required).

  • Ability to work in an innovative, alternate healthcare setting.
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills within interdisciplinary teams.

Schedule

  • Full-time, Monday through Friday
