Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Cardiac Telemetry Unit
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Overview
- Heart & Vascular Unit (7HVU) – 49-bed specialty medical/surgical unit
- Fast-paced environment focused on cardiovascular patient care
- Patient types include stable heart and lung transplants, and Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs)
- Sister unit to the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit
Shift & Ratios
- 36 or 48-hour shift options available
- Ratios: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights), occasionally 1:7 nights (rare)
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 in a 4-week period
- Days: Saturday and Sunday
- Nights: Friday night and Saturday night
Experience & Requirements
- Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years (must include 2 years in a large, urban hospital)
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required, but first-time travelers are not accepted unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
- Must be prepared to float frequently to meet staffing needs, including to multiple units and potentially to Bellevue campus
- EPIC charting experience required
- Drip medication administration required on all floors
Certifications & Licenses
- BLS and ACLS required (AHA certifications)
- NIH Stroke Certification preferred
- PALS and NRP certifications as applicable
- State RN license required (pending license accepted but must be in hand before start)
- Primary source verification and NURSYS verification required
Additional Requirements
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during contract
- Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
- 100% nicotine-free facility
- Scrubs: Steele gray scrubs with facility logo mandatory
- Background check, drug screen, and various health documents required (including immunizations, TB testing, physical exam, fit mask test)
- Annual skills checklist and references required
Floating Units Include (but not limited to)
- 4CS, 5 West, 6 Neuro, 4/5 Lied, 6/7 Lied, 7 HVU, 8 Werner, 9 Trauma, Bellevue MS, Observation, SOTU

- Teaching hospital with 718 acute-care beds
- Provides care for complex cardiovascular patients

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with strong cardiovascular skills, EPIC proficiency, and flexibility to float across multiple units in a high-acuity environment.
