Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Metairie, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for a travel/contract position. The role involves caring for critically ill patients with specialized equipment and requires flexibility to float across various ICU and related units.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years ICU experience (Cardiovascular ICU experience highly preferred)
• Epic electronic health record experience required

Work Schedule & Environment

• Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:2, occasionally 1:3
• Weekend shifts required: 4 weekends per 4-week schedule
• No on-call required
• Floating required to all ICUs, with possible float to Emergency Department (ED), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and occasionally Medical-Surgical/Progressive Care Units (1:4 ratio)
• Nurses perform lab sticks, EKGs, and line starts

• Medtronic EVD Management Systems
• Arctic Sun TMS
• GE Monitors
• Hill Rom Beds
• Pyxis Medication Station
• Veratron Bladder Scanner

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – can be obtained onsite if not already certified
• NIH Certification
• Must be able to care for COVID-19 and isolation patients (know your N95 mask size)

License Requirements

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Louisiana
• NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start

Additional Requirements

• Background checks and verifications as per facility policy
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titer proof
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or titer proof
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination
• Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days

Other Notes

• Ratio and floating requirements may vary based on unit needs
• CPI certification onsite cost approximately $100
• Return to work limited to 5 days total during contract
