Job Opportunity: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Occupational Therapist)
Location: Tucson, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of Occupational Therapy (OT) Acute Care experience
- Must score a 4 on the skills checklist for acute care
- Experience required in:
- Activities of Daily Living
- Adult OT
- Orthopedics
- Must be able to handle Adult Acute Therapy in ICU, ED, Med Surg, Ortho, Neuro, and Cardiac units
- EPIC electronic medical record system experience required
- BLS certification required and must not expire within 30 days of assignment start
- Call and float duties required as needed
- Must work 40 hours per week, including 2 required weekend shifts
- Work hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required)
- No local candidates accepted
Certifications & Compliance
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – AHA only
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – AWOHNN or NCC acceptable
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or MAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior) certificate
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) may be required depending on unit assignment
- HIPAA Competency (updated annually, passing score 80%+)
- Tech Cert Verification – National
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – Required for Pediatric ER
Required Documentation & Background Checks
- Current Driver’s License/State ID with correct address
- Residency Declaration Form (if using compact license)
- Background Check (7 years, including Pima County, AZ) must be completed within 30 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- State License verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP) within 30 days of start
- Employment Application with last 7 years of work history and explanation of gaps over 30 days
- 2 professional references from employment within last 3 years (1 must be supervisory)
- Skills Checklist updated annually
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by physician, NP, or PA
- Fit Testing (N95) within 1 year of start
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within past 10 years (declinations allowed except for certain units)
- Negative TB test (QuantiFERON Gold, Tspot, or PPD) within 3 months of start, renewed annually
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (declinations allowed with signed form)
- Varicella
- Drug Testing (12 panel) must be started within 72 hours of booking and within 30 days of start
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30) or approved medical/religious exemption with facility-specific form
Additional Notes
- Orientation is held twice a month
- Candidates must be experienced travelers; no first-time travelers accepted
- Call and float responsibilities are part of the role
- Weekend shifts required
- No local candidates accepted for this position
