Licensure & Certifications

• License Required: Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) registration through ABRET
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) through American Heart Association

Experience Requirements

• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty preferred
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first time travelers accepted)

Required Skills & Knowledge

• Applies knowledge of intra-operative EEGs and at least one modality of evoked potential under supervision
• Understanding of neuroanatomy, physiology, EEG instrumentation, pattern recognition, and medical/pharmacological influences on EEG
• Ability to adjust controls for optimal EEG recording, including use of extra electrodes and activation procedures
• Comprehensive patient history documentation including seizure types, neurological symptoms, and medications
• Accurate electrode placement according to the international 10-20 system
• Ensures electrode impedances meet laboratory standards
• Recognizes and manages artifacts (patient or environment)
• Responds appropriately to patient emergencies ensuring safety
• Knowledge of infection control standards related to patients and equipment
• Maintains equipment cleanliness and proper working order
• Troubleshoots equipment problems or reports them as needed
• Performs EEG recordings according to laboratory standards (routine, sleep, bedside, electrocerebral silence)
• Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills
• Possesses effective interpersonal skills with patients, families, and hospital staff
• Ability to read and comprehend English to follow instructions and safety precautions
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Proof of I9 or attestation
• Government issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
• Social Security Card
• Background check: 7-year criminal check within a year of start, updated annually
• International background checks if applicable
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
• Immunizations and health requirements including:

  • Tdap vaccine
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines)
  • Flu vaccine during flu season (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
  • COVID-19 vaccine required prior to start (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months; facility requires drug test within 30 days of start
• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
• Completion of employment application/resume
• Skills checklist updated annually as applicable
