Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
- No Return to Office (RTO): 2/15/26 through 2/28/26
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients
- Perform IV starts and general nursing tasks including monitoring, labs, medication administration, and patient education
- Utilize EPIC EMR system for documentation and patient care management
- Manage CPAP/BiPAP, medication titrations, and serve as charge-capable night traveler
- May be floated to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
- Must demonstrate maximum flexibility; may be required to work every other weekend
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (highest requirement found)
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and IV certification
- Proficiency in IV starts and general nursing skills
- Experience with EPIC EMR system
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred (not explicitly required)
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA only (Instructor/Provider and RQI acceptable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for ER, ER OB, and ER Psych units
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure): Required for L&D, Post-Partum, and OB units
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Facility-specific expiration rules apply
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required for most ICU, PCU, ED, and Brain & Spine units (check unit-specific requirements)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required for all RN/LVN candidates prior to start
- Unit-Specific Competency Exam: Required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for all RNs within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
Licensure & Verification
- State nursing license verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required for RNs
- Residency Declaration Form required if using a compact license from outside Ohio
Background & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring required
- Education accreditation verification required (accredited nursing program)
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
- Facility-specific compliance forms including dress code, fraud/waste/abuse training, ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and signed
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella (or documented medical exemption)
- Hepatitis B (titer or 3-vaccine series; declination acceptable)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (new travelers cannot start with pending drug screen)
- COVID vaccination not required but strongly recommended
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager/director or formal leadership role
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- May be required to complete unit-specific orientation and safety manual acknowledgment annually
Notes
- Prior travel experience is preferred but not explicitly required
- Flexibility to work every other weekend and float to other units as needed
- Must be charge-capable during night shifts
