Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

• Position: Labor and Delivery RN
• Responsibilities include:

  • Circulating during C-sections
  • Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Nursery duties potentially every shift, including catching, initial stabilization, and ongoing care until transport if needed (immediate care and stabilization of critical newborns, not ongoing critical care)

Requirements

Licenses & Certifications

• New York RN license required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Fetal Monitoring (Electronic Fetal Monitoring - EFM) certification within the past two years
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA only, required for L&D)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification preferred

Experience

• Minimum 3+ years of clinical experience in Labor and Delivery
• Prior travel experience required (must have completed at least one prior travel contract)

Other Requirements

• Must be comfortable with nursery care including initial stabilization and ongoing care until transport
• Must be willing to comply with local travel radius restrictions (cannot reside within 50 miles of Saratoga Springs or specified counties)

Compliance & Testing

• Background checks including 7-year search, SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender registry
• Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Pass/fail EKG/ECG competency testing with a minimum score requirement (multiple attempts allowed with remediation)
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Color blindness testing preferred
• Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (New York State mandated)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (2-step PPD required)
• Drug screening (10-panel) within 60 days of start
• Flu vaccination or approved exemption required by December 5th, 2024
• Eye exam including Ishihara color deficiency test

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Measles (Rubeola): Proof of immunity via titer or 2 MMR doses
• Mumps: Proof of immunity via titer or 2 MMR doses
• Rubella: Proof of immunity via titer or 2 MMR doses
• Hepatitis B: Titer, declination, or vaccine series
• Varicella: Proof of immunity via titer or 2 vaccine doses or history of chickenpox

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Passport-style photo for badge
• FCRA Authorization Release form signed prior to start
• Lift assessment (typically 25 lbs, may be 10 lbs depending on position)
• Review of ECG study guide prior to start
• Completion of HealthStream online orientation modules before start date
• Religious exemption request form for flu vaccine if applicable
• N95 OSHA questionnaire and fit test (quantitative test only accepted for 3M 1870 mask)
• TB questionnaire annually if chest X-ray older than 1 year

References

• 2 professional references required for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles
• 1 professional reference required for per diem non-acute care roles

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with prior travel experience who meet the certification and compliance requirements and are comfortable working in both L&D and nursery settings.
