Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: San Mateo, California
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
  • Current EPIC experience required
  • BLS and ACM certifications preferred
  • Patient ratio approximately 1:20
  • Coverage includes every other weekend

Certifications & Competencies

  • Required Certifications:
    • ACLS (AHA only) for ER, ICU, Med Surg, OR, Tele units
    • BLS (AHA only) for all clinical travelers and interim leadership
    • PALS (AHA only) for ER and PACU
    • NRP, Chemo, EFM, CPI as applicable by unit
    • NIH Stroke Certification for ICU and Med Surg (annual renewal)
    • State License verification within 30 days of start
    • NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
    • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable (passing score 80%)
    • Unit-specific competency exam required (Med Surg for Clinical Decisions)
    • Core Parts I, II, III for subcontractors (or signed HIPAA form)

Background & Health Requirements

  • Background check within 30 days of start, including 7-year county history and sex offender check
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required monthly
  • Physical exam within 1 year, including clearance of communicable diseases (annual for ICU)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • N95 Fit Test within 1 year (Max Air CAPR acceptable if off-site)
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (titers and boosters as needed)
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination acceptable
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or annual declination
  • Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly recommended but not required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with documentation

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references within 3 years of hire
  • Annual skills checklist required (Med Surg for Clinical Decisions)
  • Drivers License/State ID required (color copy only)
  • HIPAA Manual & Acknowledgement must be reviewed and signed prior to start

Schedule

  • Every other weekend coverage required

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with EPIC experience seeking a travel/contract role in a hospital setting with a 14-week commitment.
