Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (ICU)

Location: Marrero, Louisiana

Job Summary

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years ICU/Neuro experience (highest required)
• Epic electronic health record experience required

Unit & Patient Population

• Float across all 3 ICUs: CCU, SCU, NCU (no specific unit assignment)
• Patient types: Neuro/Stroke patients, vascular surgeries, multi-level back surgeries, general ICU

Patient Care Ratios & Schedule

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2-3
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• No call requirement

Required Skills

• Interpretation & management of dysrhythmias
• Continuous IV sedation
• ICP monitoring (including bolts)
• Ventilator experience
• Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) management
• Spinal drains

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - can be obtained onsite within 30 days

Preferred Certification:

• CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse)

Appearance

• Scrubs color: Navy

Required Qualifications & Compliance

• Valid Registered Nurse license for Louisiana
• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam, Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam, and Core Part I, II, III competency exams required annually
• Physical exam within 12 months (not required by facility but required by agency)
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tdap within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31) with exemptions accepted
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit prior travel experience required

Additional Notes

• Must float between multiple ICU units
• Weekend work every other weekend required
• No call duties

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with neuro experience who are comfortable floating across multiple ICU units and have strong critical care skills.
