Job Opportunity: Behavioral Health Registered Nurse

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Provide nursing care using the Nursing Process from admission to discharge for the client population served.
  • Perform client assessments and reassessments according to standard procedures.
  • Develop and coordinate individualized plans of care with the interdisciplinary team, including discharge planning.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care within the clinical setting.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately based on competency levels.
  • Document client care and education provided to clients/families.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure quality and continuity of care.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapies per policy; assist licensed providers as needed.
  • Participate in professional growth, staff education, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain professional ethics, conduct, and boundaries.
  • Adhere to nursing standards recommended by the American Nurses Association and facility policies.

Work Schedule

  • Day shift options:
    • 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
    • 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • 40 hours guaranteed per week.
  • Flexibility required for weekend work and variable hours.

Location & Travel Requirements

  • Must be willing and able to travel to multiple locations within a 35-mile radius.
  • Advanced notice will be provided for daily assignment locations.
  • May be required to travel/transport between sites.
  • Must be willing to float to all locations within the specified radius.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Additional Requirements

  • Valid government-issued photo ID required.
  • Must provide 2 professional references within the last 3 years.
  • Employment application must document 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing hours and locations are essential.

Certifications & Competencies (as applicable)

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for certain units).
  • Other specialty-specific certifications may be required depending on assignment.

Notes

  • Preference given to candidates with no Return to Origin (RTO) restrictions.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
