Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Tyler, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: Medical-Surgical ICU
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
  • Patient Ratio: 1:2
  • Number of Beds: 16
  • Years of Experience Required: 2 years
  • Travel Experience: Preferred (unit prefers travel experience)

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIHSS* (as applicable)
  • PALS* (Pediatric Advanced Life Support, as applicable)

*Other certifications such as NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, CPI, MAB, and NIH Stroke Certification may be required as applicable.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience in a Medical-Surgical ICU, with ICU experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Certifications as applicable: NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), NIHSS, CPI
  • Ability to work night shifts (3x12 hour)
  • Compliance with all required background checks and verifications
  • Completion of unit-specific skills checklist annually

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
  • Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Required immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season

Background & Documentation Requirements

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Education verification (highest level)
  • Work history verification for the past 7 years
  • Professional references (internal requirement)
  • Valid driver’s license or state ID
  • Completion of employment application/resume submission

Additional Notes

  • Scrub color: Charcoal Grey
  • Candidates residing in certain counties in Texas are not eligible for travel contracts in this location.
  • Fingerprinting and other onboarding requirements may apply depending on state and facility policies.
