Registered Nurse - CVICU

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shifts: Day/Night, 8 or 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 and 1900-0730)
  • Schedule: Every other weekend, some holidays, no call
  • Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
  • Experience Required: CVICU experience required
  • Additional Experience Preferred: Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area
  • Equipment Knowledge: Experience with NextStage CVVH machine required
  • Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass Telemetry test prior to start

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Wisconsin
  • CVICU nursing experience of at least 1 year, with experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience and knowledge of the NextStage CVVH machine
  • Basic Arrhythmia experience
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days prior to start, including multi-location search for past 7 years
  • Education verification as applicable
  • Wisconsin Caregiver Screening within 90 days of start
  • Drug screening per clinical standards
  • Physical exam (Aya standard)
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • TB test or chest X-ray
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titers
    • Varicella vaccination or titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination form
    • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (annual)
    • Other vaccines/declinations as applicable (e.g., Meningococcal for certain departments)

Testing & Competency Exams

  • Telemetry test (Adult or Pediatric as applicable) required before start and annually thereafter
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Pass/Fail testing for EKG/Medication with remediation process if needed
  • Rhythm Interpretation Course required if remediation is necessary after failed Telemetry tests

Additional Notes

  • Photo for badge required (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except religious/medical)
  • Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments required prior to start
  • Two clinical references within the last 3 years required
  • Employment application and annual skills checklist required

This position is ideal for experienced CVICU RNs with strong arrhythmia and telemetry skills, comfortable working rotating shifts in a critical care environment.
