ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job – Columbus, Georgia

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for an ICU travel/contract position caring for adult to geriatric patients. The role involves managing high-acuity ICU patients, including ventilated patients and those requiring continuous infusions and invasive lines.

Contract Length

• 12 weeks

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years ICU nursing experience
• 1st time travelers accepted

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Key Responsibilities and Skills

• Care for all potential ICU diagnoses
• Manage high volume of ventilators and arterial lines
• Experience with titration of continuous infusions: sedation agents, pain medications, paralytics, vasopressors
• Competency with CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) on Baxter PrisMax machine preferred for CRRT patients
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds with intensivist, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, OT/PT, dietitian, case management, wound care
• Transport patients to diagnostic tests (e.g., CT) alongside tech and respiratory therapist if ventilated
• Night shift nurse practitioners place central lines, arterial lines, and vascular catheters, attend codes, and admit patients to ICU
• Patient-to-nurse ratio typically 1:2-3
• Use of Epic electronic health record system required
• Familiarity with Pyxis medication system and SBAR communication method

Work Schedule and Conditions

• Every other weekend required
• Floating within facility and sister campus as needed within scope of practice
• No on-call requirements
• Expected to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
• Navy blue scrub color

Orientation and Compliance

• Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days
• Full compliance with onboarding requirements needed to start on time; delays may push start date by 2 weeks due to orientation scheduling
• Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length

Required Documentation and Compliance

• Valid RN license in Georgia
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

• Floating may include work at a sister campus within the same healthcare system
• Multidisciplinary rounds and collaboration with various healthcare professionals are integral to the role
• Night shift nurse practitioners handle invasive line placement and code response; ICU nurses provide bedside care and patient transport support

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs comfortable with high-acuity adult and geriatric patients, ventilator management, and working in a fast-paced critical care environment.
