Job Description

• Provide patient-centered pharmaceutical care including clinical services, medication information, education, preparation, and distribution.
• Ensure safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy.
• Use clinical judgment to contribute to and implement patient care plans based on diagnosis.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures to maintain privacy and safety.
• May perform specific tasks and orient new staff to the department.

Schedule

• Variable shifts: 4x10-hour shifts and 5x8-hour shifts.
• Start times range from 7:00 AM to 9:30 PM.
• Every other weekend required.
• No on-call duties.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Pharmacist license in California.
• Pharmacist with 0 years of experience.
• Pharmacist experience within the last year.

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 6 months of start.
• Various federal and state screenings including EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level 3, Sex Offender Search, OFAC Sanctions List, and Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List (as applicable).
• Education verification required.
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to California law).
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Fit test not required for pharmacists.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella immunity or vaccination documentation
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
• Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start (not required for pharmacists).

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC only.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on position.
• Other certifications (PALS, NRP, CCRN, TNCC, EFM, CPI) to be verified as applicable by position.

Competency Exams

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required as applicable.

Additional Requirements

• Must provide full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
• Employment verification required for up to 7 years.
• Professional references required (2 for clinical/allied/per diem acute care; 1 for per diem non-acute care).
• Must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and others prior to start.
• TB screening questionnaire required within 90 days of start and annually thereafter.
