Job Description

• Work schedule: Every Other Week (EOW)
• Float to MedSurg units as needed
• Patient ratios: 1:5
• Work settings include MedSurg/Telemetry, Telemetry, and PCU/Stepdown units
• Strong cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required
• Must be able to start IVs, manage Heparin protocols, and cardiac drips (no titration)
• Accepts first-time travelers
• Local candidates considered within a 60-mile radius

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Alabama
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
• Experience in MedSurg/Telemetry, Telemetry, and Stepdown units
• Current ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Ability to start IVs
• Experience managing Heparin protocols
• Ability to manage cardiac drips without titration

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start
• Immunizations and screenings required:

  • Tdap vaccination or declination within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within past 12 months (or TB questionnaire if test expires during assignment)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccination, history, or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declined)
• 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Background checks including social security trace, criminal, sex offender, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG screenings
• Education verification (official transcript, diploma, or third-party verification)
• NURSYS verification for RN license

Additional Notes

• Schedules are fixed once contract is confirmed; no changes to requested time off after confirmation
• Must review and sign traveler attendance policy prior to start
• No accommodation for other per diem schedules or contracts during assignment

This position is ideal for RNs with PCU or MedSurg experience who are comfortable with cardiac monitoring and emergency response, and who are open to travel assignments including first-time travelers.
