Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 10 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience to work in the Operating Room. First-time travelers are accepted. The patient population ranges from adults to geriatrics.


Work Setting & Responsibilities

  • Main OR covering specialties: General, Neuro, Spine, Orthopedics, Robotics, Urology, Vascular, Colorectal
  • Circulate and Scrub experience is required (hard stop)
  • Average daily census: 35 patients across 16 rooms
  • Unit systems include Epic, Pyxis, and 2 Da Vinci XI Robots
  • Scrub color provided by facility
  • Floating is rare but may be required within facility and scope of practice
  • Weekend shifts: 2–3 weekends per 8-week schedule (in-house or on-call)
  • Call requirements: 7-8 calls in an 8-week period, including weekend calls and weekday night calls
  • Call shifts: 7 p.m.–7 a.m. or 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
  • Holiday work expected if major holidays fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience within the last year, including circulating and scrubbing skills
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience working with adult and geriatric patient populations

Licensure

  • Valid Registered Nurse license for the state of Georgia required

Certifications (as applicable)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on specialty area
  • Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, EFM may be required based on unit assignment (refer to specialty requirements)

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
  • Up-to-date immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Flu vaccination or documented declination required during flu season
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Annual background check and education verification required
  • Skills checklist and work history verification required

Additional Information

  • Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days
  • RTO blackout dates during Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Orientation hours vary based on contract length
  • Clinical screening required to determine fit before final approval
