Job Opportunity: PCU/Tele Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Dededo, Guam
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (PCU/Tele RN)
- Unit Type: Telemetry unit with Progressive Care Unit (PCU) level of care; may include ICU and Med-Surg float
- Patient Ratios: 1:4-5
- Shift: Assigned primarily to one shift (day or night) without preference option; schedule finalized after a 4-day window for shift changes
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, flexible to facility needs
- Holidays: Working holidays required, dates determined by unit needs; no holiday work preferences allowed
- Overtime: Not guaranteed, at management discretion
- Floating: Must be willing to float within scope to Med-Surg and ED Tele overflow; no ICU care outside scope
Required Qualifications
- Licensure: Must have Compact or Guam RN license in hand at time of application (no pending licenses accepted)
- Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience required; 3-5 years preferred
- Prior Travel Experience: Not accepted for first-time travelers (first-timers not accepted)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (American Heart Association provider card required)
- BLS (American Heart Association provider card required)
- Passport: Current U.S. passport required (Canadian passports not accepted)
- Other: Must be willing to work holidays and weekends as scheduled
Additional Requirements & Information
- No local candidates from Guam accepted (locals excluded)
- Return to Office (RTO) requests must be approved and included in contract before start; max 3 consecutive days per 2 weeks, max 7 total days
- Travelers should be prepared to pick up additional shifts based on census
- Flights are not reimbursed; candidates should plan accordingly
- Guaranteed hours are contracted; client may cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week assignment

- Scrub Color: Navy blue preferred; any solid color acceptable for most areas
Required Onsite Testing & Training
- Drug Calculations and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) exams administered onsite during orientation; must pass with 80% or higher; two attempts allowed
- Facility-specific nursing modules (8-12 hours) including:
- Pressure Injury Training
- NIH Stroke Scale Training (NIHSS)
- Alaris IV Pumps
- Pyxis CareFusion
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., Conscious Sedation, ESI for ER)
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year (facility does not require but Aya recommends)
- Fit test for N95 masks within 1 year, must use approved mask types or complete onsite fit test
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire if past positive
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine required during flu season (Sept 1 - June 30) or approved medical exemption
- COVID-19 vaccination strongly preferred; declination requires facility-specific waiver form
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
Background & Documentation
- 7-year background check required within 1 year prior to start, including criminal and sex offender searches
- Must provide 2 professional references for travel/per diem acute care roles (within 3 years)
- Work history verification for last 10 years required; attestations accepted if verification unavailable
- Government-issued photo ID required (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Emergency contact form required prior to start
Notes
- Passport must be in hand before applying
- No travel partners accepted
- Candidates must plan to arrive at least one day before start due to long flight times and time zone differences
- Travelers must complete all required certifications and trainings before or during orientation as specified
