Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract

Location: Dothan, Alabama
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (1900-0700)


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Alabama
  • Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License (name must match RN license)
  • Social Security Card or last four digits of SSN for verification
  • Background checks including:
    • 7-year criminal history
    • SS Trace, Counties, Nationwide, FACIS Level 3, Sex Offender, Education Verification
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education verification (official transcript or clearinghouse verification)
  • NURSYS license verification (required for all RNs)
  • Shirley’s Law APS Clearance Form and results (time sensitive, must be completed prior to orientation)
  • Facility-specific modules and trainings (must be completed by Friday prior to start)
  • Photo for badge (passport-style, no nose ring, submitted within 72 hours of signing)
  • Physical exam (initial and updated annually)
  • Fit mask test (annual, must be completed prior to start)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire
  • Immunizations or titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Drug testing: 10-panel within 90 days of start, updated annually (instant/rapid tests not accepted)
  • Flu vaccination/documentation required for placements starting on or after September 15 (declinations not accepted; medical/religious exemptions require facility form and mask-wearing)
  • COVID vaccine is voluntary

Additional Requirements

  • Proof of 2 clinical references within the last 12 months (may extend to 18 months if necessary)
  • Completed employment application/resume
  • Skills checklist updated annually (as applicable)
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (as applicable)
  • Core competency exams (Core Exams I-III from Prophecy highly preferred)
  • NIH Stroke Certification required for all RNs except Pediatrics, NICU, and Surgery (must be current and renewed annually)

Notes

  • Candidate must live at least 90 miles from the facility
  • Name on all documents (Driver’s License, Social Security Card, RN license) must match exactly
  • Facility requires proof of license renewal before start if license will expire during assignment
  • Facility-specific training modules are assigned based on specialty (ER staff have additional Apex Hemispheres Level 3 training)
  • Religious and medical vaccination exemptions must be completed on facility-specific forms and reviewed by the facility
