Job Opportunity: Sterile Processing Tech (SPT)

Location: Easton, Maryland

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: Days, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (5x8 hours)
Weekend Requirement: 1 weekend every third month
Holidays: Required as scheduled
Floating: May be required within the department and sister facilities
On-call: Pre-scheduled on-call is not required

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty (Surgical Services)
• First-time travelers accepted with strong experience and skills
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Required Licenses/Certifications

• CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA certification (either accepted)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA only
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA only (if applicable)
• Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification, and others may be required depending on unit/job description

Required Qualifications & Compliance

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30-90 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
• Fit test within 1 year of start (specific mask types required)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • TB test (QGOLD, TSPOT, or 2-step PPD) updated annually
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (seasonal requirement)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters
  • Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters (history of chickenpox not accepted)
  • TDaP within 10 years or signed declination (depending on unit)
• Background checks including 7-year criminal search, education verification, and state-specific exclusions
• Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
• Verification of at least 2 years hospital or equivalent acute care experience within last 5 years
• Government issued photo ID required
• Completion of required competency exams (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, age-specific, color blind testing) as applicable
• Facility-specific documents such as confidentiality agreement, dress code review, badge photo, and orientation attendance required

Additional Information

• Floating may be required within the department and sister facilities
• Orientation details: Held at 8 AM, dress code is royal blue scrubs or business casual; floor work begins Thursday after orientation
• Candidates must complete various facility-specific forms and assessments prior to start
• Candidates must comply with all facility policies and training requirements

This position is ideal for Sterile Processing Technicians with at least 2 years of experience who are open to travel assignments and meet the certification and compliance requirements listed above.
