Medical Surgical Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Bend, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Float required to all North Campus locations within a 75-mile radius (Redmond, Prineville, Madras, Bend)
• May be assigned as primary RN in any med-surg department or as a 1:1 observer in any clinical department, including ED for boarding med-surg patients
• Weekend shifts required to average 1 per week (may be every other weekend or spread across weekends)
• No local candidates accepted (must live outside 75-mile radius)
• Pending licenses not accepted
• No scheduled on-call shifts, but may be placed on standby
• Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: 7 days

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Oregon
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually, including:

  • SSN Trace
  • Counties lived/worked/school
  • FACIS L3
  • DOJ Sex Offender Search
  • Nationwide check
  • Education verification (highest level)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 90 days of start
• Diploma or transcript required on file
• Photo for badge (passport-style, solid background) required within 48 hours of signing and no later than 2 Wednesdays prior to start
• Completion of facility-specific agreements and attestations required within 48 hours of signing and no later than 2 Wednesdays prior to start

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • TDAP vaccine within 10 years (or declination)
  • Negative TB test (QGold within 1 year) or chest X-ray for positive responders
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (booster or declination acceptable for low/equivocal titers)
  • Hepatitis B: positive titer required (vaccine series alone not accepted)
  • Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (booster or declination acceptable)
• Negative 12-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (not required annually)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (deadline 12/01)
• COVID vaccine preferred but not required; declination or exemption required if never vaccinated
• Respiratory safety clearance required annually

Competency and Skills

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Annual skills checklist required

Additional Notes

• Must be able to float within scope to any med-surg unit or serve as 1:1 observer across all campus locations
• No prior travel experience explicitly required, but first-time travelers must have 3-5 years RN experience
• Weekend and night shift flexibility required

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses comfortable with med-surg float assignments across multiple hospital campuses and able to meet comprehensive compliance and health requirements.
