Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (Night Shift)
Location: Englewood, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 9:00 PM – 9:00 AM)
- Must work every other weekend and holidays
- EPIC experience required
- Floating assignments possible within specialty clusters, including high-risk respiratory/COVID units and nearby campuses (within 15 miles)
- Agency may cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract due to low census
- Agreement may be canceled with 2 weeks' notice without penalty
- Not eligible for employee incentives
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 1.5 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications (must be current and AHA-approved unless otherwise noted):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or Calm Every Storm certification
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Experience & Skills
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
- Must be able to float to other units as assigned, including high-risk respiratory and COVID units
- Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays
Health & Background Requirements
- Physical exam within 2 years indicating fitness for duty and free of communicable diseases
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray; annual TB questionnaire if past positive TB
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (vaccination series, immune titer, or declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Drug screening: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 12 months; includes marijuana panel; random drug screening during orientation week may be required
- Respiratory Safety Clearance within 1 year, renewed annually
- Background checks including 7-year criminal background, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Fingerprinting not required for this position/unit
Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required
- E-Verify compliance required prior to start
- Proof of name change if applicable
- Education verification required for non-RN candidates (not applicable here)
- Skills checklist updated within 1 year prior to documentation due date
- Two professional references within 2 years required (one must be a manager/supervisor/charge RN); employment verification accepted if references unavailable
- Current resume/application required
- Completion of medical questionnaire for respiratory protection prior to orientation
- Candidate agreement form fully completed prior to documentation due date
Additional Notes
- Certifications expiring within one week of start date must be renewed before start
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam has a strict remediation and retake policy; failure after three attempts results in assignment cancellation
- Floating assignments may include multiple nearby campuses within 15 miles
- Agency reserves rights to cancel shifts or contracts under specified conditions
