Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse - Seattle, Washington (Travel/Contract)

• Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Average Daily Census: 15 patients/day; 500-600 deliveries/month
• Unit Details:

  • High Risk/High Volume Labor & Delivery
  • 4 Operating Rooms
  • 31 rooms and beds
  • Schedule posted every 6 weeks, designed to meet unit needs
  • Work every other weekend and holidays as needed
  • Float required to postpartum/antepartum and sister facilities with Mother/Baby units

Job Description

• Work in a fast-paced, high acuity environment requiring high-risk labor and delivery experience.
• Function as Baby Nurse during delivery and provide newborn care until transfer to postpartum.
• Circulate in the OR during deliveries.
• Provide newborn care including eye care, Vitamin K injections, thigh assessments.
• Manage medications such as Heparin, Insulin, Magnesium Sulfate.
• Use EPIC electronic medical records and electronic fetal monitoring.
• Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines.
• Pre-approved time off is considered on a case-by-case basis.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Washington.
• Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year.
• Experience working with high-risk patients in Labor and Delivery.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience using EPIC electronic medical records system.
