Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract
Location
- Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Details
- Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night shift, 4 shifts per 2-week period (4x12 hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Hours per week: 48
- 36 or 48 hour shift options available
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri night/Sat night)
- Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
Unit Description
- 9 Trauma unit: 45-bed medical/surgical unit focused on trauma patients who are hemodynamically and medically stable
- Fast-paced specialty medical/surgical unit
- Patient population includes trauma admissions from ED, ICU transfers, or surgical/procedural services
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 days, 1:6 nights (rarely 1:7 nights)
- Drip management required on all floors
- Floating required frequently within scope, including to other units and potentially to Bellevue campus (units may include neuro, observation, surgical, trauma, and others)
- Care team includes CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics; LPNs assigned on some floors
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse license valid in Nebraska (pending license accepted but must be in hand before start; booking delayed if not)
- Minimum 2 years RN experience in a large, urban hospital
- EPIC electronic charting experience required
- BLS certification required
- First-time travelers not accepted unless they have 2 years experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification as applicable per unit
- Must be prepared to float frequently
- Must be nicotine-free (facility is 100% nicotine free)
- Locals not accepted (must live more than 100 miles from facility)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background check within 30 days of start, updated annually (includes multi-county, statewide, federal, sex offender, and other checks)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
- Education verification required
- State-specific abuse/neglect registry check required within 30 days of start
- Primary source license verification and NURSYS verification required prior to start
- Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgement required
- Annual skills checklist required
- References: 2 work references from past 2 years (1 must be most recent employer if not a current traveler)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
- Fit test for N95 mask within 1 year, updated annually (3M 1860 Small/Regular or 3M 1870+)
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity:
- Tdap within last 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per protocol, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if low/equivocal titers
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if low/equivocal titers
- Hepatitis B titer required; declination accepted if non-reactive
- Drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually (specific panel required)
- Flu vaccine preferred (not mandatory), documentation or declination required; must update vaccination status annually
- COVID vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemption or declination accepted
Additional Information
- Scrubs: Mandatory Steele gray scrubs with facility logo on back (details provided after confirmation)
- Parking: Permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates apply
- RTO (Request Time Off) blackout dates: 6/11/26 - 6/22/26 due to College World Series
- Up to two weeks of RTO permitted; requests must be submitted with application and approved by manager
- Facility is a teaching hospital with a high level of acuity and complex patient care
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with strong trauma and medical/surgical skills, EPIC experience, and the flexibility to float frequently across multiple units during night shifts.
