Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Maryville, Tennessee
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (1900-0730)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Float to similar units as needed
• Weekend coverage every other weekend (subject to change)
• Medication system used: Omnicell
• Special procedures include post heart catheterization care and bedside procedures such as dialysis catheter care, thoracentesis, and incision & drainage (I&D)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Valid Driver’s License/State ID required immediately upon signing for computer access and must be carried on duty
• Background check covering 7 years within 12 months of start date, including alias and multi-state/county searches
• E-Verify or attestation required
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
• Education verification of highest level completed
• Primary source verification of RN license within 30 days of start
• Annual drug screening (5 panel minimum) within 1 year of start
• Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Negative TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot) within 90 days of start
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years if working in high-risk areas
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required annually (not required for remote workers)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required; second vaccine can be pending if collected within 28 days of first
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
• Respirator fit test (N95) completed onsite during orientation
• Badge photo meeting facility specifications required prior to start
• Completion of online Cornerstone modules within 72 hours of assignment (approx. 12 hours) mandatory before start
• Pass/Fail medication and arrhythmia testing required prior to orientation (two attempts allowed, 84% passing score)

Experience & Skills

• Minimum 1 year of MS/Telemetry nursing experience required (higher experience requirement takes precedence)
• Prior travel experience is not required but first-time travelers will be reviewed based on experience
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required (minimum 1 year)
• Ability to perform special bedside procedures: dialysis catheter care, thoracentesis, incision & drainage
• Ability to float to similar units as needed

Orientation & Training

• 16 hours of non-billable orientation onsite separate from online modules
• Online modules replace traditional 9-day didactic orientation, allowing for targeted clinical precepted orientation on arrival
• Annual competencies and core training required, including universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, OSHA bloodborne pathogens, and TJC National Patient Safety Goals

Additional Notes

• Floating policy applies but is not required for this specific location
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements
• All certifications must be current and not expire within 30 days of start date
• Candidates must be prepared to complete all required testing and documentation promptly to avoid delays in start date
