Pediatric Dietitian - Travel/Contract
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Pediatric Dietitian (Dietary Services)
- Daily caseload: 9-12 patients per day
- Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5 days a week, 8 hours per day)
- Weekend requirement: Every 3rd weekend, 0-3 weekend shifts per contract
- On-call: Required, including weekends and holidays
- Floating: Yes, within pediatric scope
- Block scheduling: Accommodated
- Locals: Not accepted within 100 miles radius
- Pending New Mexico state license accepted
- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions: Absences longer than 7 days require approval
- Guaranteed hours: Contracted for 36-48 hours per week; facility may call off up to 3 times
Required Qualifications
- Valid RDN (Registered Dietitian Nutritionist) license in New Mexico
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an RDN, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with pediatric patients in an inpatient setting
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- RD or RDN credential
- Strong foundation in Enteral Nutrition and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN)
- Skills:
- TPN calculations (macro and micro nutrients)
- Enteral nutrition calculations, advancements, and stabilizations

- Facility type: Level I Trauma Center, Children’s Hospital, Teaching Hospital, Short-term Acute Care
- Total staffed beds: 554
- Charting system: Cerner
- Parking: No fee
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid non-local driver’s license required (ID cards not accepted)
- Social Security Card required for verification
- Background checks:
- 7-year criminal history within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within one year of start
- Education verification or diploma/transcript if third-party verification unavailable
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (unless done within past 12 months)
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- COVID vaccination required (religious and medical exemptions accepted with form)
- Flu vaccine required year-round with exemptions accepted
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer required
- Hepatitis B: Declination, series, or titer acceptable
- Drug screen: Negative drug test within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
- Fit mask test required within 1 year of start (specific N95 masks accepted; PAPR accommodations available)
Additional Requirements & Notes
- New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks
- A 6-month break is required after 4 consecutive assignments or 1 year of cumulative travel work, whichever comes first
- Overtime applies after 48 hours worked (for contracts signed on or after 10/30/2025)
- Two professional references within 3 years of hire required
- Complete employment application with at least 3 years of work history required
- Work history verification for 3 years required, including detailed verification information
- Skills checklist and competency exams required (including medication and pharmacology competency)
- Orientation includes safety manual acknowledgement and facility-specific training (e.g., Cerner training attestation)
This position is ideal for pediatric dietitians with inpatient experience seeking a travel contract in a high-acuity pediatric hospital setting with a strong focus on enteral and parenteral nutrition.
