Job Description

  • Provide direct patient care on Medical/Surgical unit with ability to float to telemetry as needed.
  • Responsible for safe patient care using nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel.
  • Maintain standards of care in Med/Surg/Telemetry Unit.
  • Communicate with physicians regarding changes in patient condition, cardiac monitoring, diagnostic results, and symptoms.
  • Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or treatment response.

Requirements

  • Current and valid California RN license.
  • Current BLS (AHA or Red Cross) certification.
  • Current ACLS (AHA or Red Cross) certification.
  • Minimum 1 year previous acute care hospital experience.
  • Meditech EMR experience preferred.
  • Ability to float to units within competency.

Onboarding & Credentialing Requirements

  • Prime CA Sexual Harassment Prevention Training (valid 2 years)
  • Nursys License Verification
  • Driver's License, State ID, or Passport
  • Prime OIG Check
  • Drug Screening: Minimum 10-panel test including THC (urine and saliva tests required for CA locations) within 60 days of start.
  • Color-blind Test: Annual, Relias accepted.
  • Agency Attestation: Completed after all credentials uploaded.
  • SAM/EPLS Exclusion Search: Must be completed with visible date.
  • Resume and 2 Professional References (required for submission)
  • BLS Certification (AHA or Red Cross)
  • COVID-19 Vaccine: 2 doses plus booster or declination completed.
  • MMR: Proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer; declinations accepted for this facility only.
  • Fit Test: Annual respirator fit test required; must be completed prior to start or coordinated onsite if allowed.
  • Hepatitis B: Proof of vaccination or immunity; declinations not accepted at some locations.
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season or declination completed.
  • TB Test: Annual requirement.
  • Varicella: Proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer; declinations accepted for this facility only.
  • Tdap: Proof of immunity or vaccination; declination form accepted for booster.
  • Annual TB Questionnaire
  • Physical/Health Statement: Annual, must state clear to work; completed within 60 days of start.
  • Prime Core Competencies Exam: Must score 80% or higher.
  • Prime Skills Checklist (required for submission)
  • Criminal Background Check: National check within one year of start date; some state-specific exceptions apply.
  • Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification): Agency attestation accepted.
  • Prime Specialty Exam: Must score 80% or higher.
  • Orientation Packet: Includes Essentials form and post-test.
  • Job Description: Signed by employee.
  • DCI/BVP Training: Workplace violence prevention training required; can be completed via Relias or similar platforms.

This position requires a highly competent RN with acute care experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt to multiple units including telemetry. Compliance with all credentialing and health requirements is mandatory for onboarding.
