Respiratory Therapist Job Opportunity

Location: Albany, New York
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Job Description

• Assess, treat, and care for patients of all ages with pulmonary (breathing) disorders.
• Perform diagnostic testing and relevant exams.
• Set up and operate cardiopulmonary equipment and machines to assist or monitor patient breathing.
• Gather data to accurately assess patient health status.
• Observe, record, and report symptoms, reactions, and patient progress.
• Administer and document prescribed medications, treatments, and diagnostic procedures.
• Manage airway care including endotracheal intubations, extubations, pulmonary hygiene, tracheostomy care, and emergency life support.
• Provide extensive health education to patients and the community.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in New York
• Minimum of 3 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Emergency Pediatric Life Support (EPLS) certification
• National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certification
• Associate's degree or higher academic degree in Respiratory Therapy or Respiratory Care
• Experience working with adult patients
• Experience in an Acute Care setting

Immunization and Health Requirements

• COVID-19 vaccine with booster proof or approved exemption (valid through October 2026).
• MMR: Proof of 2 vaccinations or IgG titer lab report.
• Hepatitis B: Must have started vaccination series prior to start; titers not accepted.
• Influenza vaccine or approved exemption for current flu season.
• Varicella: Proof of 1 vaccination or IgG titer lab report.
• 2-Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) with chest x-ray if positive TB as per regional requirements.
• Fit test for N95 mask (if applicable).

Experience

• Minimum years of experience in Respiratory Therapy: 3 years, including recent experience within the last year.
• Experience in an Acute Care setting required.

Additional Notes

• This is a night shift position requiring clinical competency in respiratory care and airway management.
• Candidates must comply with all onboarding documentation and credential verification processes.
