Travel RN OR Job - Prestonsburg, Kentucky

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse - Operating Room (RN OR)
• Location: Prestonsburg, Kentucky
• Employment Type: Travel
• Contract Length: 12 weeks
• Shift: 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week
• Call Requirements: 1 shift per week; 1 weekend per month

Experience Requirements

• Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years
• Prior Travel Experience: Preferred (not required)

Clinical Experience

• General OR cases including:

  • Endarterectomy with stents and patches
  • Some aneurysm and vessel cleaning/stripping clots
  • Orthopedics (totals, ORIF, arthroscopy)
  • General surgery
  • Laparoscopic surgery
  • Endoscopy (GI)
  • Some GYN procedures
  • Relief for ENT tech (tubes, tonsils/adenoids, thyroids, nasal fracture repair)
• PACU experience required to assist with patient recovery during call-back situations

Licensure & Certifications Required

• Licenses:

  • Valid RN license for Kentucky or compact license valid in Kentucky
• Certifications:

  • BLS (American Heart Association only; front and back of card if not electronic)
  • ACLS (AHA only; required for all RNs except Psych and some Med/Surg units)
  • PALS (as required per specialty/unit)
• Other Required Health Credentials:

  • COVID-19 Vaccine (proof of vaccination or approved religious/medical exemption)
  • Influenza Vaccine (required Sept 1 - May 31; exemptions accepted with documentation)
  • MMR (proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B (proof of 3 vaccine series or declination)
  • Varicella (proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer)
  • Tdap (valid within 10 years; declinations accepted)
  • TB Quantiferon test within 1 year prior to start
  • Annual physical or health statement clearing to work without restrictions

Additional Requirements

• Must reside within 100 miles of the facility to be considered
• Orientation occurs bi-weekly; start date is the date needed on the job
• Assignment confirmation must be submitted within 24 hours of accepting the offer
• Required to submit a comprehensive credential packet including:

  • Background check (7-year county, nationwide criminal, SSN trace, sex offender, SAM, OIG)
  • Drug screen (excluding marijuana/THC)
  • Skills checklist and competency exams specific to scope of practice
  • Core competencies (HIPAA, patient rights, safety, infection control, elder abuse, cultural diversity, etc.)
  • Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start

Notes

• Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory
• Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines require proper documentation and approval
• Declinations for some vaccines (Hep B, Tdap) are accepted; influenza declinations are not accepted
• Must not submit candidate to more than one job at a time

This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with a broad surgical background and flexibility for call shifts, who are interested in a travel assignment in Kentucky.
