Job Description

• Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department (ED) using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Responsible and accountable for patient care in the ED.
• Communicate with physicians regarding changes in patient condition, diagnostic results, and symptomatology.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and treatment response.
• Knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and mandatory reporting of child/adult abuse.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Float to other units within competency.

Required Qualifications

• Current and valid California RN license.
• Minimum 1 year experience as a staff RN in an acute care hospital, specifically in an Emergency Room setting.
• Current certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – AHA or Red Cross
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or Red Cross
  • Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate
• COVID-19 vaccination preferred.
• Experience with Meditech EMR system.

Contract Length

• Approximately 26 weeks (interpreted as weeks).

Health & Immunization Requirements

• COVID-19 Vaccine (2 doses + booster or declination completed)
• MMR (Proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer; declinations accepted for this facility)
• Varicella (Proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer; declinations accepted for this facility)
• Hepatitis B (declinations not accepted at some locations)
• Influenza Vaccine or declination (required seasonally)
• Tuberculosis (TB) Test (annual requirement)
• Annual TB Questionnaire
• Positive PPD with Negative Chest X-Ray (optional)
• Tdap (proof of immunity or declination form)
• Physical/Health Statement (annual, must state clear to work)
• Fit Test (annual respirator fit test; must be completed prior to start or coordinated onsite where allowed)
